  2. Shin guards.
Shin guards should be worn under socks.
  3. Water bottle.
  4. Soccer ball:
    • U6 Size 3

How old does my child need to be to play soccer?

We form teams for boys and girls from the ages of 4 through 14. A child must be 4 by August 31st in order to play fall soccer. We have a Micro program for 4 and 5 year olds and a regular program for players aged 6 and up.

What does the "U" stand for?

"U" stands for "under". A child playing on a U8 team will be "under" the age of 8 at the beginning of the fall season, although they often turn 8 during the course of the year and by the spring season, most of the players on a U8 team will be 8 years old.

Children can sometimes play up an age group, but can only play down under VERY exceptional circumstances. Players are only moved up an age group with permission of parents, coach and club.

When does registration take place?

Fall soccer registration takes place between May and July. Spring soccer registration takes place between February and March.

Are there any registration discounts?

A head coach will receive the full paid registration amount for one child (not including jersey) refunded at the end of the season. An assistant coach will receive 1/2 of the paid registration amount for one child (not including jersey) refunded at the end of the season. Refunds are given upon receipt of coaching equipment.

The child must be registered under the account of the legal guardian or the grandparent coaching.

Where does the registration fee go? Why do we need to fundraise on top of a registration fee?

The money that Parkrose Soccer Club takes in through registration fees goes to pay for insurance, the portable restrooms at our fields, coach training and Department of Justice fees. We have fundraising each season in order to keep the cost of registration as low as possible. We are proud to have some of the lowest registration fees in our league.

How do you assign teams?

Micro teams are co-ed but teams U7 and above are separated into boys and girls teams. We try to build balanced teams, honoring buddy requests and coach requests wherever possible. In addition, we try to keep the same kids on the same team from year to year. Please call the registrar if you have special requests or questions about the teams.

When and where are the games and practices held?

Each coach will decide when their team will practice and they will do everything possible to make it convenient for the majority of players on the team. Usually Micro teams practice once a week and teams U8 and above practice twice a week, on weeknight evenings. Practices are held at fields in the Parkrose School District: Thompson, Russell, Knott and Sacramento.

Games usually take place on Saturday mornings, although in the fall season, there will be occasional weeknight games for teams U8 and above.

Micro teams play other Micro teams from Parkrose but teams U8 and above will play a mixture of home and away games. Parkrose Youth Soccer is a member of PYSA. Please check the website for address for all the fields within PYSA.

Where can I purchase the uniform?

Jerseys can be ordered during registration and will be delivered by the team's coach when available. Jersey numbers will be randomly assigned. We encourage you to shop for the rest of your soccer gear at:

Tursi's Soccer Store, located inside Rose City Futsal East

I haven't heard from my child's coach yet. What should I do?

Please call the registrar if you have not heard from your coach by mid-August (fall season) or mid-March (spring season).

I am interested in coaching but don't know much about soccer...

We are pleased to offer training and support to new and experienced coaches. Please contact our coach coordinator for more information.

What are my responsibilities as a parent/spectator?

  1. Our number one priority is that our players learn good sportsmanship and fair play and we expect all parents and spectators to set a good example of these qualities.
  2. We also expect our parents/spectators to be supportive of the coaches and of the referees, even if you disagree with their call. Please bear in mind that many of our referees are young and learning how to referee. This is a great opportunity for them to gain experience but they may make mistakes from time to time.
  3. Please do not sit at the goal ends of the fields. We ask that parents and spectators sit on one side of the field, while the team sits on the other.
  4. Smoking or drinking is never permitted at any of the games. Dogs are also not allowed. Please also pick up your trash before you go.
Does Parkrose Soccer offer a Classics / Competetive Program?

We don't have a large enough player base to support a competetive program at Parkrose Soccer. There are three clubs around us that provide some options:

  1. TFA Barcelona (formerly Centennial)
  2. Northeast United
  3. East Side Timbers (formerly East Side United) Pacific FC
